ECO City Farms is a nonprofit urban teaching farm focused on food insecurity among Prince George’s County residents. Its three farms, located in Edmonston, Bladensburg, and Upper Marlboro, provide experiential training, community-based education, and workforce development to help food insecure residents grow healthy food while preserving ecological diversity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This grant supports its Creating Urban Resilient Eco-Systems program and assessment tool development, which will help to increase the number of independent urban farms in Prince George’s County engaged in climate-smart agricultural practices while reducing food insecurity in a way that provides healthy, nutritious food for the communities that ECO City Farms serves.
