Mercy Hospital

About

The foundation’s interests in the health of Maine’s children have their roots at Mercy Hospital, where Harry Davis served as Chief of Pediatrics from 1943 until his death in 1963. As Patricia Klingenstein noted, “Our family’s treasured relationship with Mercy Hospital animates much of what we do at the foundation. When we promote the well-being of children, particularly Maine’s neediest children, we are carrying on my father’s life’s work at Mercy Hospital.”

In the late 1960s, the family established a fund to support the education of pediatric nurses in honor of Harry Davis. We later supported the Mercy at the Fore project, which opened in 2008.
