EAJK Grantee Helps Families Learn About American Rescue Plan Child Care Tax Credits

While many families have received payments for the child tax credit, nearly 50% aren’t aware they can claim another tax break on child and dependent care expenses through a recent federal stimulus plan, according to a survey conducted by Esther A. & Joseph Klingenstein Fund grantee Bipartisan Policy Center.

“The changes made by the American Rescue Plan stand to have an enormous impact on families and their childcare expenses,” said Linda Smith, director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s early childhood initiative.

Families can estimate their tax benefits using an online calculator created by the Policy Center.

Funding Opportunities

The EAJK Fund currently has one open funding opportunity. The Klingenstein-Simons Neuroscience Fellowship for early career investigators engaged in basic or clinical neuroscience research. Application portal opens annually on October 1 and closes on February 15.

Neuroscience Fellowship

The KTGF currently has three open funding opportunities.

The first is the Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation Fellowship, which supports post-doctoral candidates investigating child and adolescent ADHD and depression. Application portal opens annually on October 1 and closes on January 10.

The second funding opportunity is the Medical Student Fellowship Program inviting medical schools to submit applications for consideration to join its Medical Student Fellowship Program. Application portal opens on January 8, 2024 and closes on April 8, 2024.

The third funding opportunity is the Transformation of Mental Health Care, focused on improving access to high quality mental health care for children and adolescents. Application portal opens annually on November 1 and closes on January 15.

The SHDF currently has one open funding opportunity, its Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program, which promotes Maine children’s health by providing grants ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 to organizations serving Maine’s underserved, low-income children. Application portal opens annually on April 15 and closes on May 31.
