Children’s Health Small Grants

About

Championed by Patricia Klingenstein, the Foundation operates a small grants program to promote areas of Maine children’s health other than oral health. Each year, it awards individual grants ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 to organizations that focus on the health needs of Maine’s underserved, low-income children.

We want to help the children of Maine, particularly those most in need. Our Small Grants program is a way we can do that, while allowing me to connect with the place where I grew up.

Organizations that are awarded our Small Grants focus on a wide range of areas promoting children’s health.

Central Lincoln YMCA

After COVID-19 spread into Maine, we encouraged 2019 Small Grants Program recipients to redirect the remaining funds of their grants to help children and families address the devastating consequences of the pandemic. The Central Lincoln YMCA used the remaining funds from our grant for their Healthy Weight & Your Child program to support the Y’s pandemic response outreach efforts, including food distribution and helping community members access needed services during this crisis.
